Abdulkadir Oduncu, MD

Abdulkadir Oduncu, MD completed his medical education at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine (2005) and his ophthalmology residency at Maltepe University (2012). Following compulsory service and posts at state hospitals, he has practiced at Kızılay Kağıthane Hospital in Kağıthane, Istanbul since 2023.

His clinical interests are cataract and premium (smart) lens surgery, refractive surgery with the excimer laser, and glaucoma. In addition, he holds patented inventions on the non-contact, imaging-based assessment of intraocular pressure and has presented research at international scientific meetings.

Pulsatile Red Reflex (PRR): Dr. Oduncu was the first to describe that the red reflex (a sign known for over a century) carries a pulsatile, cardiac-synchronous component, and named this phenomenon the Pulsatile Red Reflex (PRR), introducing it to the scientific literature.
